Mr. Cord J.L. Breuer
Director of Bands, Orchestra, and Guitar 
 
Cord Breuer (B.M. Music Education, Boise State University) studied trumpet with Marcellus B. Brown, Justin Stamps and Keith Weigandt. He began teaching at Middleton High School in June of 2013 as the Director of Bands and Orchestras. A trumpet player adept in any style, Cord has taught and performed throughout the Northwest. Selected performances include appearances as the featured soloist in the 2012 Las Vegas Maaco Bowl with the Keith Stein Blue Thunder Marching Band, where he was a member from 2008-2012. Cord has also marched for the Sioux City West Middle and High School Marching Bands for 7 years. He has given clinics, performed and been a Brass Staff member at the Boise State Summer Chamber Music Camp since 2010. At the camp he teaches beginning trumpet techniques, beginning improvisational techniques, and coaches various brass ensembles. Since living in the Treasure Valley, Cord has been on staff with the Homedale Trojan Marching Band as the Percussion Caption from 2010-2012 and at Vallivue High School as the Brass Caption Instructor, and Teaching-Intern in 2012. At the District III Marching Festival both ensembles, while in different categories, won in their respective division. As a private trumpet and bass guitar instructor, Cord has had many students receive Superior ratings, qualify and medal in the State-Solo Competition, and pursue music beyond high school.

Mr. Louis McFarland

Battery & Front Ensemble Percussion Instructor, Rhtyhm Section Consultant,

Concert Percussion Consultant, Winter Drumline Director, & Percussion Ensemble Consultant

 

Louis McFarland has studied percussion under Dr. John Baldwin extensively over the last 15 years. He is a product of such fine teachers as Pat Flaherty.  Louis is an experienced musician that performs an average of 150 shows a year in the Northwest region of the U.S. with various performing groups such as AKA Belle, New Transit, Thomas Paul, and many other artists that request his expertise behind the set.  As a percussion instructor, Mr. McFarland is in his 2nd year as with the Middleton Viking Bands and under his direction we were able to see incedible improvements in abililty, attitude, and excitement for percussion. 

Mrs. Heather L. Seilhamer

Auxiliary Instructor, Band Director's Administrative Assistant/Office-Aid for Middleton High School

 

Heather was born in Boise, ID and attended both the Boise and Meridian School Districts.  She was encouraged to appreciate music and was fortunate to perform in drill team, become a clarinetist, and further her love of music through participating in various choirs.  She was selected in the Boise State Honors Choir under the direction of Mr. Mark Griffiths for several years and participated in many solo and ensemble competitions.  While pursuing her vocal education throughout her high school career, she auditioned and joined elite choirs at both schools receiving the opportunity to participate, compete, and place in many solo and ensemble competitions in and out of state.  She graduated from Capital High School in 1991 and was employed by the Idaho State Department of Health and Welfare.  She married in 1992 and was fortunate to choose to become a homemaker.  Heather rejoined the work force as a substitute teacher in 2012.  Heather once again had the opportunity to enjoy her passion for music and became the Auxiliary Instructor for Middleton High School under the direction of Mr. Randall Graven.  Heather experienced success and achievement through MHS Auxiliary’s placement of Second at the District III Marching Band Festival.  After an exciting season last year that brought many changes and adaptations, new staff members, and opportunities, Heather is looking forward to continuing her career under the direction of Mr. Cord J.L. Breuer, Director of Bands and Orchestra.  She is excited to be part of Middleton High School’s outstanding musical program for her 4th season.

Mr. Luke Manchester

Woodwind Technician

 

Mr. Luke Manchester studied Clarinet and Saxophone under numerous people including Dr. Leslie Moreau, and Sandon Mayhew at Boise State University. He has his BM in Music Business from Boise State University and is an active private instructor and clinician in the Treasure Valley. 

 

Ms. Mariah Seilhamer

Assistant Auxiliary Instructor

 

Mariah P. Seilhamer is currently enrolled at the College of Idaho, and is studying for her Bachelor of Arts while also enrolled at Boise State University as a member of the color guard in Blue Thunder Marching Band. Mariah has been in color guard for 7 years where she has studied under Melanie Reno, Becky Wallace and Heather Seilhamer.

Mariah has been involved in music for 14 years. She began private piano lessons with Becky Wallace at the age of 6. After studying the piano for 5 years she became a flute player for the Middleton Middle school concert band and continuing on into the Middleton High School Symphonic Band under the direction of Randy Graven. While in the Middleton High School color guard she was fortunate enough to receive a first place at the District III Marching Festival. During her last two years of high school, she was the captain of the color guard. Throughout her entire high school career she studied flute privately with Teri Wallace and continued to receive superior ratings at solo festivals, along with being a selected member of the the Symphonic Band, as the first chair flutist, and was involved in numerous honor bands including, the Treasure Valley Honor Band (4 years) and Boise State’s All Star Honor Band (2 years).

Mariah is looking forward to work as the Assistant Auxiliary Instructor of the Middleton Marching Corps alongside the Head Auxiliary Instructor, Heather Seilhamer and Cord Breuer the Director of Bands, Orchestra, and Guitar at Middleton High School. Mariah is also the Assistant Coach for Homedale’s color guard and works alongside with Cheri Holloway (head coach) and the Homedale Marching Band. She hopes both teams will place well at the upcoming District III Marching Band competition as they compete mostly in different divisions.

 

David Gluck

Front Ensemble Instructor

 

David Gluck is sponsored by Yamaha, Zildjian and Innovative Percussion.  David has also been a featured performer and clinician throughout the United States, Japan, Thailand, Australia, Saudi arabia, United Arab Emirates, Italy, the Caribbean, Mexico and Canada.  As a founding member and percussionist/composer of the internationally renowned Rhythm & Brass, David has been critically acclaimed by such publications as the New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, and Downbeat magazine.  He has 10 recordings on the Koch, Summit, D’note, Bear Claw and Skinny-Tie Labels.  Recently he co-authored the best-selling book Rhythms of the Game: The Link Between Musical and Athletic Performance with former New York Yankee great, Bernie Williams.  The book’s forward is written by Paul Simon and is published by the Hal Leonard Corporation.
